The Rock Valley College softball dynasty continued its national dominance with a fifth straight NJCAA Division III National Championship, and for their efforts in leading the way to that title, the Golden Eagles have swept the NJCAA's top awards. Sophomore Madason Shaw was named the 2018 Dudley® NJCAA DIII Softball Player of the Year, while freshman Breanna Crown was chosen as the 2018 Dudley® NJCAA DIII Softball Pitcher of the Year.

Shaw, a third baseman from Rock Falls, Illinois, batted .466 with an .882 slugging percentage on the season. She produced 44 extra base hits, drove in 69 runs, scored 67 runs, and was a perfect 27 for 27 in stolen bases. The top vote-getter on the NJCAA Region IV Division III All-Region Team, Shaw also earned NJCAA First Team All-American accolades.

Crown, a pitcher from Davis Junction, Illinois, went 18-3 with a 1.94 earned run average in her first collegiate season. Over 115-plus innings she struck out 84 batters and walked just ten, earning eight complete games and two shutouts. The third-highest vote-getter on the NJCAA Region IV Division III All-Region Team, Crown was selected alongside Shaw as a NJCAA First Team All-American. She was a three-time recipient of the NJCAA DIII Pitcher of the Week award.

Rock Valley College finished 52-9 en route to their record-setting national championship, winning a sixth-straight Region IV title along the way.
