City of Milwaukee rules Region 4 Division II with pair of championships
ROCKFORD, ILL. - A pair of Region 4 Division II Men's Basketball Tournament Championship trophies now reside in the city of Milwaukee after Bryant & Stratton College and Milwaukee Area Technical College won the Midwest District A & B titles, respectively. The top-seeded Bobcats secured their first Region 4 crown with a 71-66 defeat of host and #4-seed Rock Valley College, while the #10-seeded Stormers stayed atop the region with an 85-74 victory over #3-seed South Suburban College in a matchup of last year's two region champions. Bryant & Stratton College earned its spot in the championship game following a 91-77 quarterfinal victory over #16-seed Elgin Community College and a 72-64 semifinal decision against #9-seed Black Hawk College. The Golden Eagles (21-12) narrowly got by #13-seed Illinois Valley Community College 79-75 and beat #5-seed Morton College 86-74. The title game saw the Bobcats grab control early with two 11-0 runs as they outscored RVC by a 42-29 margin in the first half. In the second half, Rock Valley College closed the gap to a single point as late as 67-66 with 2:40 remaining, but BSC held them off with a layup and two free throws to seal the victory. Jabi Alberto led four players in double-figures for Bryant & Stratton College, scoring 14 points, to go along with seven rebounds. Matthew Juergens and Karter Seawright added 13 and ten points, respectively, off the bench, while Keith Robinson also scored ten points.

Milwaukee Area Technical College's fourth straight region crown completes an impressive run after wins of 81-78 over #7-seed Moraine Valley Community College and 78-74 against #2-seed Waubonsee Community College. The Bulldogs, who finished NJCAA national runners-up a season ago, took down #14-seed Prairie State College 88-58 and #6-seed Madison College 91-86 to return to the title game. The championship game featured three ties and six lead changes between two programs that have each won a national title in the last three years. South Suburban College held a 41-35 advantage at halftime, and extended the lead to ten a couple of minutes into the second half. MATC-Milwaukee answered with a 16-5 surge to take the lead with 11:49 to play. The differential remained within striking distance for SSC until the final two minutes when the Stormers went up by ten with a minute to go. Julian Valentine paced MATC with 21 points, followed by 20 points from Cyrus Little and 19 points from Matthew Hoarde. Antonio Foxwell pitched in with a double-double of 13 points and ten rebounds.

The 2025 NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championships are in Danville, Illinois, and run from March 17-22. Bryant & Stratton College (29-5) is ranked #11 in the NJCAA Division II Poll and received the #10-seed in the tournament. The Bobcats will open with a second round game on March 18 at 6:00pm against #7-seed and #6-ranked Kalamazoo Valley Community College (29-2). The winner advances to a quarterfinal game on March 20 at 7:00pm, while the loser will play in the consolation bracket. Milwaukee Area Technical College (16-17) enters the 20-team tournament as the #18 seed and will battle #15-seed and #18-ranked Orange County Community College (28-4) with a first round game at 3:00pm on March 17. The winner moves on to play #2-seeded and #2-ranked North Central Missouri College (31-1) in the second round on March 18 at 8:00pm, with the loser to play one consolation game on March 19 at 11:00am.
