GLEN ELLYN, ILL. - For the second year in a row, the College of DuPage has been crowned the Region 4 Division III Softball champions. The Chaparrals, who were awarded the title based on regular season record in 2023, swept a best-of-three series with Harper College to secure the championship in 2024. Barry Froehle was named Region 4 Coach of the Year. (Recap: DuPage)

The series was played on May 3 on the Chaps home field, and COD took full advantage. Two runs in the bottom of the first inning in Game 1 was all DuPage needed in winning a narrow 2-0 game over the Hawks. The two teams combined for ten hits, with Grace Walker earning the shutout win.

In Game 2, the Chaparrals registered four innings with three or more runs en route to a lopsided 20-6 win. DuPage posted four runs in the first inning, and after the Hawks answered with two in the top of the second, COD scored three more to make it 7-2. Following two more runs in the fourth for Harper College (6-21), the home team racked up a six-run fourth and a seven-run fifth. Abigail Collins hit a two-run homer in the game, and Taylor Gloms picked up the win.

The College of DuPage qualified for the NJCAA North Plains B District Tournament against defending national champion North Dakota State College of Science, and lost the best-of-three series by scores of 7-4 and 12-0. The Chaparrals finished the year with a 12-19 record.
