Harper leads Region 4 contingent at NJCAA Great Lakes District

MUSKEGON, MICH. - Harper College secured a Region 4 title with a second place finish at the 2026 NJCAA Great Lakes District Wrestling Tournament, hosted by Muskegon Community College on February 22. The host Jayhawks took the district team title with 149.5 points, narrowly getting past the Hawks at 144.0 points. Triton College was third overall with 112.0 points, followed by Bryant & Stratton College in sixth place at 53.5 points, and Joliet Junior College in seventh with 26.0 points. Harper College, coached by Dan Loprieno, was led by three individual champions and placed in the top three in nine of the ten weight classes. In all, five Region 4 wrestlers stood atop the podium and 14 finished in the top three.

Harper College produced championships by sophomores Lennon Steinkuehler (141) and Aiden Cohen (165), as well as by freshman Joshua King (285). Additionally, Truth Vesey (125), Maguire Hoeksema (157), Tyson Poyer (174), and Noah Brockie (184) secured second place finishes, and Sam Sirkorski (133) and Michael Galloway (149) wound up third.

Triton College's Damari Reed (157) won a Region 4 clash to claim the Trojans lone championship. Everett McClelland (197) placed second and Jase Salin (165) was third.

Another all-Region 4 title bout came at 174, with Zachary Clark of Bryant & Stratton College coming out on top. Joliet Junior College's best placement was Adrian Hernandez (141).

In all, 26 wrestlers (23 men and three women) from the region earned automatic spots at the 2026 NJCAA Men's & Women's Wrestling Championships in Council Bluffs, Iowa, from March 6-7.
