Waubonsee Claims Region IV Women's Tennis Title, One of Three Heading to Nationals
The Waubonsee women's tennis team captured the NJCAA Region IV Division I Tennis Tournament, which was held on October 7-8 in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. The Chiefs finished with 19 1/2 points, edging out the College of DuPage Chaparrals, who finished in second with 14 points. The College of Lake County finished in third place with 13 total points. All three schools qualified for the NJCAA Division I National Tournament, which will be held in Tucson, Arizona, beginning on May 7, 2017.
Alexis Kasper of Moraine Valley Community College finished first in the singles tournament. The duo of Maddy Deufel and Lexis Blackmon from Waubonsee Community College claimed first place for the doubles. All three will participate at the NJCAA National Tournament.
Jennifer McMullen of Waubonsee Community College was named Region IV Coach of the Year, while Allie Shank of Sauk Valley Community College was given the Sportsmanship Player Award.
