Waubonsee Repeats as Region IV Division I Champions

GLEN ELLYN, ILL. - The depth of the Waubonsee Community College women's tennis team carried the Chiefs to a second consecutive NJCAA Region IV Division I championship on Saturday at the College of DuPage. Waubonsee claimed 17 points over the two-day tournament, narrowly surpassing the 16.5 points of runner-up Moraine Valley Community College. McHenry County College finished third with 13 points. All three will represent Region IV at the NJCAA Division I Women's Tennis National Championship in Tucson, Arizona, in May 2018.

College of Lake County's Sijana Henderson earned the First Singles title, while Michelle Ambriz of Moraine Valley took the Second Singles tournament.

On the doubles side, Ana Fedmasu and Georgia Redmond of McHenry County College finished atop the First Doubles competition to qualify for nationals.

Waubsonsee's Jennifer McMullen was named the Region IV Coach of the Year, and Nadia Trujillo of Sauk Valley Community College was the recipient of the Region IV Sportsmanship Player Award.
