Madison, Sauk Valley return to top of Region 4
MADISON, WISC. - Two championship droughts of differing lengths were ended in 2025 with Madison College and Sauk Valley Community College winning their respective districts in the Region 4 Division II Women's Volleyball Tournament. The top-seeded WolfPack swept #4-seeded Harper College 3-0 to win their first region title in a decade - and first in Division II - while the #3-seeded Skyhawks ran through #2-seeded Morton College 3-0 to claim their third banner in five years. Mallory Stone of Madison College and Jay Howell of SVCC were awarded Region 4 Coach of the Year honors.
Madison College had not won a Region 4 title since taking three in a row in Division III from 2013 to 2015, a stretch that also included back-to-back NJCAA National Championships. The WolfPack had little trouble as they swept #16-seeded McHenry County College 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-12) in the quarterfinals and needed just three sets to get by #8-seeded Rock Valley College 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-19) in the semifinals. The championship match reunited two teams who had played three times before with a Division III championship on the line as Madison College battled #4-seeded Harper College. The WolfPack rode an efficient offense to yet another 3-0 sweep by scores of 25-14, 25-22, 25-13 to extend their winning streak to 16 straight matches. Ella Vosberg led the way with 12 kills, followed by nine from both Makayla Dallas and Sam Schultz. Allie Andrews delivered 30 assists and Avery Agnew chased down 14 digs. Sauk Valley arrived in Wisconsin following a 3-0 sweep of #14-seeded Triton College (25-18, 25-11, 25-17) in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, the Skyhawks took on #6-seeded Kankakee Community College, who narrowly won the opening set. The teams traded set victories to force a decisive fifth, which SVCC won in extra points for the 3-2 (23-25, 25-19, 23-25, 25-18, 16-14) decision and a spot in the title match. Sauk Valley got out to a blistering start against the Panthers and never looked back, posting an average victory margin of 10.3 in the 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-12) sweep. Jess Johns delivered ten kills, with Kenna Wubbena and Kailee Williams in tow with nine each. Miraya Pessman and Denali Stonitsch split the setting duties with 19 and 13 assists, respectively. Stonitsch also led the team with 14 digs and five aces. Wubbena and Carli Kobbeman each registered ten digs.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - At the 2025 NJCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Championships, both Madison College and Sauk Valley Community College earned a win and two losses. The Skyhawks opened as the #15 seed and immediately swept #18-seeded Davidson-Davie Community College with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-17) victory in the first round. The win advanced SVCC to a second round meeting with #2-seeded Heartland Community College. A 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-21) setback sent the Skyhawks into the consolation bracket, while Heartland went on to win the national championship. Sauk Valley's season closed with a with a heartbreaking 3-2 (25-19, 25-21, 12-25, 23-25, 15-13) loss against Monroe University in which SVCC rallied from down two-sets-to-none. They finished the year with a 30-14 record. Madison College, meanwhile, was awarded the #11 seed and a second round match with two-time defending champion and #6-seeded Cowley College. Despite winning the first, the WolfPack lost 3-1 (19-25, 25-21, 25-15, 25-18) to fall into the 5th place consolation bracket, where they went the full five sets and then some to beat #19-seeded St. Clair County Community College 3-2 (23-25, 25-21, 21-25, 25-12, 16-14) before falling to #12-seeded Pensacola State College 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-16). Madison College ended their season with a 34-6 mark.
